GEOCIVINOMICS

Geocivinomics is a survey course of Geography, Civics and Economics.

Course Syllabus:

The Geography unit will include units on each of the continents.  Students will identify climate, culture and landforms of each.  Students will be able to construct maps and give a general explanation of landforms and cultural characteristics.

The Civics unit will focus on types of government and their structure, world leaders, leadership and citizens rights and responsibilities.  The students will be able to understand the basic mechanics of government and how citizens play a critical role in establishing a solid foundation.  They will be able to identify leadership qualities and apply them to various historical roles.

The Economics unit will focus on economic systems in relation to the acquisition and distribution of goods and services.  Students will be able to identify and apply the concepts of supply and demand, labor, the stock market, price controls, marginality, production, diminishing returns and other macroeconomic principles.  A unit on personal finance will include credit, banking, stocks and insurance.  Each student will need to provide a demonstration of knowledge that can be filed in his or her portfolio.
